The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
I came in because I was experiencing severe foot pain in the morning, specifically due to plantar fasciitis. Initially, I came in to address the fasciitis and also mentioned the issue of bunionettes. Dr. Neufeld suggested we tackle the fasciitis first and then address the bunionettes.
What procedure/treatment did you have done?
I did a month of physical therapy sessions. Throughout this time, I would bring my service dog, and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I truly appreciated the kindness of everyone involved. Additionally, I was fitted for shoes and received custom orthotics. Nani from Remarkable Feet and I got to know each other well, as she always assisted me!
After completing the physical therapy, I noticed a significant improvement – I now had the necessary tools and knowledge to manage the pain effectively.
Once the pain was under control, we proceeded with the bunionettes. Scheduling for the bunionette procedure was promptly arranged. As a type one diabetic, I felt comfortable with the minimally invasive surgery.
How do you feel after your treatment?
I have been coming back for regular check-ups every couple of weeks, and the medical team has expressed satisfaction with my progress. Both feet underwent the bunionette procedure, and I am genuinely pleased with the results and how quickly and effectively the healing process has taken place.
For the left foot, it has been three weeks since the procedure, while the right foot has been healing for six weeks. There was a one-month interval between the two surgeries. I am happy with the cosmetic outcome, as I didn't realize how my foot looked before.
Do you have any advice for other patients?
If I had known how straightforward the process would be at The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center, I would have opted for the procedure a long time ago!
As for advice, I highly recommend watching the informative videos available on OFAC's website. Personally, I found them helpful in making comparisons with other doctors. I also received pamphlets that provided me with a sense of comfort. Whenever I had questions, I could simply call and leave a message, and I would receive a prompt response.
