What was your initial medical issue?
Bunion and hammertoe discomfort: In the spring of 2019, I underwent traditional bunion surgery with a different orthopedist, and the results left me with terrible balance issues. Practicing yoga became challenging as all of my body weight was landing on the ball of my fifth metatarsal. Additionally, I was left with large scars from the incisions.

Why did you choose Dr. Neufeld and The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center?
Dr. Neufeld is a very well-known orthopedist in the area. I wanted to consult with him about the arthroscopic minimally invasive procedures to correct the work from my previous surgery and hopefully finally fix my foot.
What procedure/treatment did you have done?
Minimally invasive bunion surgery and hammertoe correction.
How did you feel after your treatment?
Dr. Neufeld straightened all five metatarsals and afterwards I also had minimal scarring! I’ve regained balance and I’m back to all my normal physical activities. My surgery was in April, and now just 3 months later I’m able to do things like hiking. Last week I went on several long hikes at Yellowstone and the Yosemite.

Do you have any advice for other patients?
Dr. Neufeld is my third foot orthopaedic surgeon and he finally got it right. He fixed all of the foot problems I’ve had in the past from different surgeons and procedures. He’s a highly respected doctor- a “doctor of all doctors” if you will. I’d highly recommend this minimally invasive procedure with Dr. Neufeld.
