Emily C. Grubel, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Surgical First-Assist, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She supports The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center (OFAC) surgeons at various hospitals and surgery centers, and diagnoses and treats patients with a variety of orthopedic complaints in the clinical setting.
Before OFAC, Emily served as a critical care Registered Nurse (RN) at the George Washington University (GWU) Hospital. She recovered patients from highly complex surgeries while in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and later applied that knowledge to thoroughly preparing patients for surgery in the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Unit. Her perspective as a patient advocate with a holistic approach to care ensures comprehensive treatment and better outcomes for her patients.
Emily graduated with high honors from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from Marymount University.
Before entering the medical field, Emily served in public relations consulting for influential global figures, companies, artists, governments, and more. She also lived in Bolivia for several years where she taught elementary school students, developed Spanish fluency, and joined an indigenous dance troupe. Emily is a pianist, avid hiker, and she lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and their infant son.
