The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
I had a serious injury to my right ankle as a child and then sprained it regularly playing sports. I had no ligaments or tendons left in the ankle and had trouble walking due to bone on bone. I was barely walking with a cane so after several exams with Dr. Cuttica I agreed to have bone fusion surgery and it was done on October 1, 2021.
What did your pain or other symptoms prevent you from doing?
I couldn’t walk, run, ride a bike or golf.
Why did you choose Dr. Cuttica and Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center?
I had heard about the clinic and Dr Cuttica from some research I did for ankle replacement surgery.
What procedure/treatment did you have done?
We decided that bone fusion rather than full ankle replacement surgery was the better procedure.
How did you feel after your treatment?
I was in a wheelchair for almost 4 months, got cleared for Physical Therapy and went to PT for over 20 sessions. I am now walking and trying to build up the muscles in my right leg.
Do you have any advice for other patients?
Place your trust in the good hands of Dr. Cuttica! Follow his instructions after the surgery, work hard on your PT and walk a lot.
